Training a service dog at home can be demanding—especially when balancing daily responsibilities, managing a disability, or navigating the complexities of task training alone. That’s why we offer two supportive services designed to ease the workload while keeping your dog’s progress on track: Service Dog Camp and Public Access Outings. These hands-on training options provide focused, professional guidance without adding pressure to your schedule. Whether your dog needs help with early socialization, advanced task work, or mastering public access skills, both services offer flexible, effective solutions that support your goals and your lifestyle.

Public Access Outings

Our Public Access Outings are specifically designed to support Service Dog clients in preparing for the Public Access Test, while seamlessly fitting into the demands of your daily life. With this service, our Certified Service Dog Coach will personally transport your dog to a carefully selected public setting, where they will work on the essential skills needed to pass the Public Access Test. Each one hour session is tailored to address your dog’s unique needs, whether it’s improving exposure, managing distractions, or task refinement, before returning your dog safely back to your home.

For clients in the Barrie and Georgian Bay area, pickup and drop-off are included in the price, making this service even more convenient. The flexibility of this service allows clients to participate in the training session by joining the outing or, if preferred, to stay comfortably at home. By offering focused, consistent public access practice, these sessions help clients make meaningful progress in their dog’s training, without adding further time pressures to your already busy schedule. The Public Access Practice Sessions provide a professional, supportive environment, ensuring that both you and your dog can maintain steady progress while minimizing stress.

Service Dog Camp

Our 7-day Service Dog Camp Program offers an immersive, personalized training experience designed to target specific behaviors, strengthen key skills, and support service dog development in a real-world environment. During camp, your dog stays with the Canine Foundations family and receives one-on-one attention from our Certified Service Dog Coaches in a nurturing, home-based setting that mirrors your own daily routine.

Each dog’s program is fully customized based on their personality, learning style, and the goals outlined by their handler. From advanced obedience and specialty task work to socialization and environmental exposure, training is tailored to ensure meaningful, lasting progress. To maintain the highest standard of care and focused attention, space in the program is limited. Before enrollment, each dog is personality profiled to determine how many visits may be needed to reach their training goals. Our aim is to deliver real-life training for real-life living—setting your dog up for long-term success as your future service partner.

Kindness Condoned!

At the end of your dog’s Day Camp visit, each team receives a 2-hour transfer session with one of our Service Dog Coaches, to teach the handler how to utilize the commands your dog has learned during camp. A written copy of your dog’s homework program is provided for your review and all phone checkups are free as a part of your support.
