Ideal for adolescent or adult dogs who show service dog potential, the Public Access Proficiency Test is a 1-hour mock evaluation conducted in a public setting. This assessment is designed to gauge a team’s current level of readiness for public access work by observing the dog’s general temperament, behavior, and ability to remain focused and composed in real-world environments.
The goal of this test is to identify strengths, highlight areas for improvement, and provide a clear training path moving forward. Each team receives a copy of their test results along with complimentary training recommendations tailored to their specific needs. All tests are completed on a positive note to encourage ongoing progress and build confidence.
Please Note – This is NOT the Public Access Test.
Modeled after the gold standard of service dog evaluations, the Comprehensive Public Access Test is a multi-hour, in-depth assessment based on the American Public Access Test framework. This test is designed for fully trained service dog teams preparing for final verification of their readiness to work in public spaces.
The evaluation includes a series of structured challenges in various public environments to assess task performance, handler control, stability under pressure, distraction management, and public safety. Upon successful completion, teams receive formal documentation confirming their public access readiness. For teams still working toward certification, a detailed feedback report and training plan are provided to support next steps.
