This 10-Week program is specifically designed for aspiring service dog teams, and focusses on implementing practical desensitization, socialization, and stress inoculation methods, to better prepare the puppy for a life as a working dog. Throughout the 10-weeks, puppies will learn the basic cues and behaviours required to pass the Public Access Test, including:
• Name Orientation
• Touch (targeting)
• Recall
• Sit
• Release
• Down
• Stand
• Stay
• With me (heel)
• Leave it
Each new client starts with a two-hour session where we:
• Discuss your training goals and specific needs
• Compile a personality profile for your dog
• Complete an obedience proficiency test
• Develop a training support plan
• Customize the program to meet your teams’ needs
We also get you started on week one of the program, teaching you and your dog the foundation skills of the program. At the end of each session you will receive a written copy of your homework, so you can print it out to keep as a reference.
Your puppy’s personality profile assesses his/her intelligence level, problem-solving skills, drives, motivations, personality type, disposition and low thresholds (areas of low tolerance).
With this information, we are able to choose training techniques that have been specifically designed for your dog’s personality mix, which means quicker and more reliable results for you.
Canine Foundations’ Consultants firmly adhere to the principals of LIMA, implementing Least Intrusive, Minimally Adverse techniques to achieve a training and behaviour objectives with minimal risk of producing adverse side effects.
