Understanding the Dog Owner’s Liability Act (DOLA)

Unlock a deeper understanding of the Dog Owner’s Liability Act (DOLA) and its real-world application in this four-hour workshop. Designed specifically for by-law enforcement officers, police, professionals working in the provincial court system, as well as Canine Behaviour Consultants and veterinary clinic staff who work with dogs that have a bite history in Ontario, this course explores how and when DOLA can be applied to current cases. Participants will gain clarity on the purpose of the legislation, how to effectively enforce it, and how to leverage it to maximize public safety and ensure proper legal outcomes.

This comprehensive workshop dives into the core foundations of DOLA, equipping participants with the knowledge needed to substantiate cases confidently. Through a combination of expert instruction and case law analysis, participants will learn how to thoroughly investigate offences under DOLA and evaluate evidence to ensure a strong legal standing.

Taught by subject matter experts with over 15 years of experience in applying DOLA, this course ensures that participants will leave with practical skills and the confidence to handle cases involving dog owner liability. Whether you’re dealing with legal disputes, investigating incidents, or preparing for court proceedings, this workshop provides you with the tools to navigate DOLA and build cases that meet the required standards of proof.
