Me20130912_194420 (2)lanie Briggs was the first Certified Canine First Aid Instructor to be hired by Canine Foundations in 2008 and assisted in the development of the course material.  She has been a team leader running private Canine First Aid courses since 2010 in addition to teaching and assisting in the Animal Handling and Canine Behaviour 101 course.   With over 12 years of veterinary clinic experience as a registered Veterinary Technician working in the animal rescue field to assist all levels of medical emergencies, Melanie brings her extensive experience and knowledge to the classroom.

Melanie began her carrier working for the Huronia Emergency Veterinary Clinic.  Her love for assisting animals in crisis lead her to become a Veterinary Technician for the Barrie SPCA animal clinic where she assisted not only in the clinic but on the road with SPCA Cruelty Agents.

In addition to her work with Canine Foundations and Essa Veterinary Services Melanie has also been an active foster parent and Volunteer for Last Chance K9 Rescue for over 5 years.  Melanie actively fosters dogs with moderate behavioural issues including; fears, phobias, hyper activity and territorial aggression.
