Direct course content yourself by choosing the commands you want to teach your dog, according to your lifestyle and his/her unique learning style.

In Canine Foundations’ private obedience training, our experts provide personalized, one-on-one training programs in the privacy of our client’s home, in-person and virtually.  As such appointments can be made to suit your schedule and are available from Monday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 9:30 pm (last available appointment time starts at 7:30 pm) and Friday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.  For more information, please contact us at (705) (705) 835 – 3177, or by email at info@caninefoundations.com.

As a pet, your dog may not have to learn the discipline of a service, police animal or a trick performer, but he/she does have to learn the basics, at least, to become a polite and safe member of your family.  Pick and choose the commands that you want to teach.

Some of the many commands you can teach your dog include:

  • Come
  • Sit
  • Down
  • Stay
  • Heel
  • Bed
  • Speak
  • Swing
  • Stand
  • Touch
  • Leave it
  • Drop it
  • Get it
  • Back up

Getting Started

Each new client starts with a two-hour personality profiling assessment where we:

  • Discuss your behaviour/training goals and current issues
  • Gain background information
  • Compile a personality profile for your dog
  • Put together a training or behaviour modification program as required

We also get you started on that program, give you an outline of how long and how many sessions will be required to achieve your goals, and email you your homework within two business days after your session, so you can print it out to keep as a reference.

Personality Profiling

Your dog’s personality profile assesses his/her intelligence level, problem-solving skills, drives, motivations, personality type, disposition and low thresholds (areas of low tolerance).

With this information, we are able to choose training techniques that have been specifically designed for your dog’s personality mix, which means quicker and more reliable results for you.

Commands

During the first two-hour session we also teach or re-teach commands to your dog that you need working for you in order to fulfill the homework.  Depending on your dog’s profile, we can teach anywhere from three to six commands in your first session.

Example:

If part of your homework was to direct your dog to go to his/her bed and stay there while you cook dinner, we would break the complex instruction into individual commands and teach them in order, building upon success.

Our use of personality profiling prior to choosing training techniques allows most dogs to learn their basic-to-advanced commands within three sessions – starting at day one!
