Assistance Task Training • • •

The needs of each Service Dog Team are unique. As such, all assistance task training programs are customized and designed to mitigate the handler’s physical, psychiatric, or developmental disabilities. Each service dog is trained to perform specialized tasks for their handler that provide support in activities of daily living.

Canine Foundations provides personalized, one on one Service Dog Training in the privacy of our client’s home, in-person and virtually. As such, appointments can be made to suit your schedule and are available from Monday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 9:30 pm (last available appointment time starts at 7:30 pm) and Friday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. For more information, please contact us at (705) 835 – 3177, or by email at info@caninefoundations.com.

Getting Started

Each new client starts with a two-hour session where we:

  • Discuss your training goals and specific needs,
  • Compile a personality profile for your dog,
  • Complete an obedience proficiency test,
  • Develop a training support plan, and
  • Customize the program to meet your teams’ needs.

We also get you started on your specialized service task training program in your first 2-hour session. Your Service Dog Coach will teach you and your dog the foundation skills required for the first step in your program and ensure that you are confident in the skills learned. At the end of each session, you will receive a written copy of your homework within 2-business days, so you can print it out to keep as a reference.

Personality Profiling

Your dog’s personality profile assesses his/her intelligence level, problem-solving skills, drives, motivations, personality type, disposition and low thresholds (areas of low tolerance).

With this information, we are able to choose training techniques that have been specifically designed for your dog’s personality mix, which means quicker and more reliable results for you.
