K9 Self Defense (GINT 0174)

DON’T BE A VICTIM, LEARN HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF!!!  Dogs are experts at reading our body language as it is their primary means of communication and thus, they are able to easily assess our capabilities.  Unfortunately, most humans have difficulties reading canine body language, leading us to either misinterpret, or missing altogether important messages, which can put us at risk for being seriously injured.

The objective of this innovative course is to provide participants with the information and experience they require to quickly assess a dog’s intentions, defuse volatile dogs to avoid altercations and injury and how to protect themselves in the event an attack becomes unavoidable.  The physical/ practical exercises are facilitated by former military and law enforcement personnel who are experienced and certified Self Defense Instructors.  Our 8 to 1 Participant to Instructor ratio will ensure that each participant has maximum hands-on time with an Instructor to develop muscle memory in addition to learning to perform the techniques efficiently and with confidence.  Providing participants with the confidence and skills essential to adequately protect themselves in the event of a dog attack.

This ground-breaking, two part course covers topics such as:

  • Read canine body language
  • Quickly assess the intentions of an approaching dog
  • Avoid errors when being approached by a hostile dog
  • Defuse a display of aggression directed towards you
  • Defuse a display of aggression directed towards your dog
  • Protect yourself should an attack become unavoidable

The target audience for this course includes; Animal Control Officers, Canine Handlers, Veterinarian Technicians, Breeders, dog trainers & behavioural consultants, groomers, doggy daycare attendants, dog walkers / pet sitters, foster parents for canine rescue groups and the average dog owner.
